DMPonline – I coordinated development of the DCC’s DMPonline data management planning tool across its first three iterations. So far as we know, it was the first tool of its kind in the world. We’ve worked with loads of people to develop content for this, too many to list on this page so see the tool itself for more details.
DMPTool – It was a pleasure and a privilege to provide advice to the DMPTool consortium, who have developed a great data management planning tool geared specifically for the US market.
(Own trumpet alert: DMPonline and DMPTool were finalists in the Digital Preservation Awards of 2012, in the category “Outstanding contribution to research and innovation in digital preservation”)
UMF and Jisc Institutional Engagement programmes – between 2011 and 2015, I was the account manager for the DCC’s work with a large number of research universities, including Aberystwyth, Anglia Ruskin, Bangor, Birmingham, Cardiff, Central Lancashire, Coventry, Huddersfield, Hull, Liverpool, Queens University Belfast, Royal Holloway, Salford, South Wales, St Andrews, Stirling, and the University of the Arts London. This work has since morphed into our current, consultancy-driven approach.
CODATA UK National Committee – I’m the Secretary to this group, which also has members from the Royal Society, Wellcome Trust, Jisc, the British Library, the Research Information Network (RIN), the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and the UK Data Archive (UKDA).
Databib – an online, community-driven, annotated bibliography and registry of research data repositories led by Purdue University. I was on the (short-lived) advisory board prior to its merger with re3data.
KAPTUR: managing visual arts research data – I was delighted to represent the DCC on KAPTUR’s working group.
Oxford DMPonline – We worked with colleagues at the University of Oxford to develop a branded institutional version of the DCC’s DMPonline tool. This work was funded by a JISC MRD grant.
Data Management Planning for Secure Services (DMP-SS) – Colleagues at University College London investigated security issues around data management planning via DMPonline. Again, funded by a JISC MRD grant.
IASSIST Special Interest Group on Data Management and Curation – I’m involved with this SIG.
Enhancing Repository Infrastructure in Scotland (ERIS) – This JISC-funded project ran from April 2009 to March 2011, and aimed to do pretty much what its name suggests.
Digital Curation Centre – I got involved with the DCC in its early days in 2004/2005, firstly in Glasgow and then in Edinburgh.
DELOS Network of Excellence on Digital Libraries – I provided specialist research and case study resource to this major initiative in the mid 2000s.
DigiCULT – Technology Challenges for Digital Culture – My first post-university job, in – perhaps naturally – a university. I worked as Technology Assessor for this European project between 2002 and 2005.
